Arturo Vidal has been linked to a move away from Juventus numerous times but this time it looks like the Chilean midfielder is in fact leaving Torino. There have been reports of Vidal joining Arsenal or Real Madrid but King Arthur seems to be heading to Germany. After selling Bastian Schweinsteiger to Manchester United, Bayern Munich are reportedly on the verge of signing Arturo Vidal for around €40 million. Many reliable Italian reporters including Romeo Agresti and Gianluca Di Marzio have stated Juventus & Bayern Munich are in advanced talks for Vidal and that a deal could be closed. Di Marzio added Juventus have in fact accepted a €40 million offer and that Vidal’s agent is in Munich to finalize a contract.
This comes as pretty shocking news as the first reports of any negotiations came yesterday and the deal seems to be on the verge on being completed. This will certainly have some ripple affects at Juve. After losing Andrea Pirlo, Carlos Tevez and now likely Vidal, it is very unlikely that the Italian champions sell Paul Pogba this summer. Selling the Frenchman now would just cause too much turnover in the side. With Vidal’s departure Juve seem set to go after a quality center attacking midfielder and they’ve already been linked to Schalke’s Julian Draxler. Gazzetta’s Carlo Laudisa also reported the Bianconeri will now look to Chelsea’s Oscar and Real Madrid’s Isco. Di Marzio additionally reported that Juventus are also interested in Porto’s left back Alex Sandro and Chelsea’s Juan Cuadrado.
Arturo Vidal is 28 years old, has had a history of injuries and his value won’t ever be higher. While it is a hard pill for Juventini to swallow there are some reasons why selling him now does make sense, especially if they can sign a top class creative attacking player.
Juventus helped Vidal become recognized worldwide while Arturo truly gave 110% every time he wore the black and white stripes. It is sad to see a world-class player leaving Serie A but I wish him the best. In bocca al lupo Arturo!
